What data we collect

Songster stores game results, leaderboard entries, and app settings locally on your device using SQLite. Solo leaderboard submissions and online multiplayer data are sent to Firebase only for those online features. In-app purchases (extra lives, decks, premium subscriptions) are processed by Apple; we receive a purchase confirmation and transaction identifier to unlock content, but no payment details.

Online multiplayer

When you use online multiplayer, matchmaking, or the global leaderboard, an anonymous session ID is generated and stored in Firebase (Google LLC). This ID is not linked to your name, email, or any account. Your leaderboard nickname, accepted solo score metadata, and result summary are visible to other leaderboard users. Player names you enter in the online lobby are visible to other players in the same session.

Music previews

Songster queries the iTunes Search API (Apple Inc.) to find 30-second song preview clips. Search queries contain song titles and artist names from our built-in catalog only — no user-entered data is sent to Apple.

Analytics & advertising

Songster shows ads via Google AdMob (Google LLC). To serve ads, AdMob may collect a device advertising identifier (e.g. IDFA on iOS), ad interaction and impression data, coarse location derived from your IP address, and diagnostics. On iOS we ask for your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any tracking-based advertising; if you decline, you will only receive non-personalized ads. We do not use a separate analytics SDK. AdMob's data handling is governed by Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

Data retention

Local data remains on your device until you uninstall the app or use the in-app clear functions. Firebase room session data expires automatically after the session ends. Global leaderboard entries remain in Firebase so worldwide rankings can work.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, and object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The device advertising identifier used for ads is personal data; on iOS you can withdraw consent at any time via Settings (App Tracking Transparency) and reset the identifier in your device settings. You can remove all local data by uninstalling the app. To exercise any right or request deletion of your leaderboard entry, contact us using the details below.
